Mission Statement
ChopDewey was founded as a frustrated response to several Internet forums I have been a member of. These forums, while touting their friendly and open-minded atmosphere, were anything but. Admin and Mod abuses occurred rampantly, members were actively driven to "board sponsors" who, in some cases, were known to be scammers, selling bogus products or not shipping orders at all once payment was received.
These same forums actively censor opinions they don't agree with, whether it be on training, diet, use of AAS or anything else for that matter. They censor negative posts about board sponsors and outright ban members on false charges when these have the audacity to question forum policy. This will NEVER happen on ChopDewey. Our reason to exist is to provide a hangout with a truly open-minded atmosphere for independent thinkers to share their thoughts and ideas concerning every aspect of fitness/weight training/bodybuilding, as well as any off-topic subject you can care to think of. NOBODY WILL EVER BE CENSORED FOR THEIR OPINION, THAT'S A PROMISE! That's not to say that I don't have my own opinions as to how a harmonious online society should be run. The first thing that comes to mind is mutual respect; treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. I'm not big on detailed rules and regulations, and it is my hope that we won't have to legislate against certain types of behavior. We're mostly adults here (and if you're not we can turn you into one fairly quickly), so when I say "don't be a douchebag and we can all get along just fine" I'm counting on you knowing what that means. I'd also like to mention responsibility. By that I mean having the moral and intellectual balls to stand behind your words. Don't just throw shit out there without backing it up somehow, or following through on what you say. Think before you post something controversial; if you have any qualms maybe your thoughts need to be refined before going public. This is NOT to say that certain topics are off limits, far from it. If you feel strongly about something by all means post up, it makes the board that much more interesting. Thirdly, a word about safety. Certain topics in the field of fitness and bodybuilding may be on the fringes of what is technically legal in certain countries. Staying within the law is your responsibilitey. None of the staff at ChopDewey have been instructed to clamp down on any type of discussion. At the same time we don't wish to appear to be a safe haven for illegal activity. If it were me I would keep any such topic as far from the public eye as possible. I don't have the ability nor the desire to spy on members' private messages (that's why they're called private). What you do in private is your business. That said, if you write it, it's stored in a database somewhere, and is accessible. Hypothetically, if I were to engage in any kind of questionable activity, I would use the PM system only to exchange secure emails. ChopDewey will not and cannot take responsibility for your actions while on the board. Use all possible caution and if in doubt DON'T DO IT! That's pretty much it. I'm not a fan of an endless list of detailed rules covering every conceivable situation. Just have fun, make friends, discuss, exchange ideas, learn and expand your knowledge of fitness, bodybuilding and every form of weight training, and DON'T BE A DOUCHE! |

These aren't actually rules.. IMHO.
Any decent person should know how to behave and make the most out of any community by contributing as well as listening to what others have to say in a non-offensive manner. That said, some people need reminding! :) Anywyas! I'm looking forward to having one hell of a time here. Hypo!!! |
